LR to Oversee Testing of Coldharbour’s BWTS
U.K.-based manufacturer of ballast water treatment systems based on unique inert gas technology Coldharbour Marine said it has signed a contract with Lloyd’s Register (LR) to oversee the complete range of tests required by the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) in its type approval process. LR has Independent Laboratory Approval from the USCG and will work closely in the type approval tests with Marine Eco Analytics (MEA), a test laboratory in the Netherlands.
Bureau Veritas, Ascenz Partner on Ship Performance Monitoring
Bureau Veritas and Singapore based Ascenz have signed a memorandum to provide ship performance and monitoring solutions to ship owners worldwide. The agreement will enable Bureau Veritas to offer Shipulse, Ascenz’s solution for real time ship performance and monitoring, which captures shipboard fuel consumption, bunkering activity, engine, hull and propeller performance data to provide insights for better decision making, fuel savings and optimized vessel performance.

Dynamic Positioning for Inland Vessels
RH Marine recently installed the Rhodium 4500 dynamic positioning (DP) and tracking system on Hakkers’ new flagship, Noordzee, an inland multipurpose vessel that can be used for lifting, dredging or pile driving. Hakkers is a specialist in the development, production and realization of excavation, dredging, construction, foundation, coastal and shoreline works. DHS Custom Passenger Ferry Launched
Gulfstream Shipbuilding launched a custom passenger/vehicle ferry for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on July 12, 2017.
