Marshall Islands Dismisses Frontline's Bid to Stop DHT Takeover
The High Court of the Marshall Islands has dismissed with prejudice a lawsuit brought by tanker firm Frontline to stop rival DHT selling a major stake to shipper BW Group, DHT said on Monday. Frontline, which according to Thomson Reuters Eikon data holds a 10.3 percent stake in DHT and is controlled by shipping tycoon John Fredriksen, has been trying for the past year to take over its New York-listed rival.
China Grants 22.92 Mln T of Oil Import Quotas
China has issued a second batch of oil import quotas that will allow independent refiners and some state companies to import a total of 91.73 million tonnes of crude (1.83 million barrels per day) in 2017, a document obtained by Reuters showed on Monday. The Ministry of Commerce approved a second batch of quotas of 22.92 million tonnes and added three companies to the list of recipients, that is mostly comprised of independent refiners, the document said.

Nearly an hour elapsed before a Philippine-flagged container ship reported a collision with a U.S. warship, the Japanese coastguard said on Monday, as investigations began into the accident in which seven U.S. sailors were killed. The U.S. Navy confirmed that all seven missing sailors on the USS Fitzgerald were found dead in flooded berthing compartments after the destroyer's collision with the container ship off Japan early on Saturday.
Baltic Index Falls for Fourth Straight Session
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index, tracking rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, fell for the fourth straight session on Monday, pressured by weaker capesize vessel rates. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was down 3 points, or 0.35 percent, at 848 points. The capesize index lost 44 points, or 3.63 percent, at 1,169 points.
