Greece received three improved binding financial bids for a majority stake in Thessaloniki Port , its second-largest, the country's privatisation agency (HRADF) said on Friday.
Ellicott Refurbishes Cutter Dredger
While Ellicott is known primarily for dredge design and manufacturing, it also offers services for refurbishment and modernization of any manufacturer’s dredge. Ellicott said it has completed the refurbishment of the Great Lakes Dredge & Dock (GLDD) 12” (300 mm) cutter dredge Commodore. After extensive flood damage, GLDD hired Ellicott to refurbish and modernize the Commodore, a non-Ellicott dredge, including hydraulics, electric controls and the booster pump.
FREMM Rizzo Delivered to the Italian Navy
The frigate Rizzo was delivered to the Italian Navy at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Muggiano, La Spezia. It is the sixth vessel of the FREMM program – Multi Mission European Frigates – commissioned to Fincantieri within the international Italian-French program, coordinated by OCCAR (the Organization for Joint Armament Cooperation). Baltic Index Falls to Weakest Since Mid-December
The Baltic Exchange's main sea freight index marked its biggest percentage decline since mid-December on Friday as rates for larger vessels dipped due to limited activity. The Baltic index, which tracks rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, was down 3.86 percent. The overall index, which factors in rates for capesize, panamax, supramax and handysize shipping vessels, was down 48 points at 1,195, its weakest since March 22.
St. Johns Building Landing Craft Series
Palatka, Fla. shipbuilder St. Johns Ship Building (SJSB) said it is currently constructing the first of three new vessels in a series of 190 foot landing crafts for a Caribbean group. This vessel will be powered by twin 700 HP Cummings QSK19 with Schottel rudder propellers. The vessel will also include a 22 inch electric Westmar bow thruster, a hydraulic bow ramp and two 99 KW John Deer generators. This landing craft features open deck with 6400 square feet of cargo space.
APA Chooses MSRC for Pilot Training
Canada's Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA) once again chose the Maritime Simulation and Resource Centre (MSRC) as its preferred training organization for specialized SEAiq training on Portable Pilot Units (PPUs).
