The U.S. Coast Guard has issued a stability letter to America’s newest tall ship for operation on exposed waters, confirming that SSV Oliver Hazard Perry exceeds their most stringent Sailing School Vessel standards for stability. Bosch Rexroth Introduces Modular Hydraulic Power Units
Bosch Rexroth is launching a modular hydraulic power unit (HPU) program specially developed for the maritime and offshore market. These power units cover a power range of 350 to 3,000 kW, and have obtained the type approval by Lloyd’s Register. The program starts with a "basic" unit which can be expanded using all kinds of options. Because all variants are included in the modular options matrix, a design can quickly be calculated complete with dimensions and weights.
MAN Diesel & Turbo Sells First HyProp ECO System
MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that it has secured an order for a complete propulsion package for a chemical tanker. The order is significant in that it marks a “world-first”: the package is the first to feature a full HyProp ECO fuel-saving, hybrid propulsion system with PTO/PTH. The system will be employed aboard a 7,500-dwt stainless-steel chemical tanker ordered and operated by IÇDAĹž Çelik Enerji Tersane Ve UlaĹźim Sanayi AĹž in Turkey.

Ulstein Enters the Yacht Market
The Ulstein Group has secured an order to build its first vessel within the yacht segment: Ulstein Verft has signed a contract to build a yacht for a private owner, one of the world’s biggest ship owners. "The customer wants the characteristic X-BOW from ULSTEIN, and together with Espen Øino, responsible for the exterior design and GA-plan, we have developed a solid yacht project," said managing director Kristian Sætre at Ulstein Verft.
Wärtsilä to Power Chinese Sand Pumping Vessel
The Wärtsilä Yuchai Engine Company Limited (WYEC), a joint venture company founded in 2013, has been contracted to supply two 16-cylinder Wärtsilä 32 engines for a large new sand pumping vessel. The ship is being built at the Dongguan Xiandai Shipbuilding yard for a private Chinese operator, and the order with WYEC was placed in September. The ship will operate on both heavy fuel oil (HFO) and marine diesel oil (MDO).
