V&A Completes Repair Package for Whitaker Tankers

Merseyside marine hydraulics specialist V&A announced it has completed a vessel repair package for Runcorn-based international fuel bunkering firm Whitaker Tankers. The Birkenhead-based family-run firm has delivered a series of complex hydraulic upgrades to the short haul fuel tanker, Keewhit. V&A Hydraulics managing director Vic Seddon said the project required a broad skill set and in-depth technical knowledge. "A key part of the repair package included work to a blown out cylinder,” he said.
NASSCO Makes Three Lead Deliveries in 2015

San Diego based shipbuilder General Dynamics NASSCO delivered three lead ships in 2015: USNS Lewis B. Puller, the Isla Bella and the Lone Star State. Each vessel represents three new and separate ship classes and highlights the builder’s diverse portfolio of commercial and government contracts, the company said. In June, NASSCO delivered the USNS Lewis B. Puller to the U.S. Navy, the first ship in the Expeditionary Base Mobile (ESB) class.

Denmark Tightens Sulphur Emissions Rules

A new action plan published today by the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA) and the Danish Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) aims to strengthen enforcement of regulations on ships' sulphur emissions in both Denmark and the SECA countries for 2016 onward. According to the DMA, the goal of the action plan is to further pursue the experiences gained by the authorities in 2015 through surveillance from the air and control in ports.
Radio Holland Installs NavCom Equipment on US Training Ship

Radio Holland, part of the newly formed company RH Marine Group, has recently completed the installation of new radar and ECDIS equipment on the bridge of TS Golden Bear, the training ship of the California Maritime Academy. Radio Holland was awarded an initial contract from The United States Maritime Administration (MARAD) in March for replacing the gyroscopes and gyrocompass repeaters. Radio Holland then successfully tendered for a second MARAD contract for the radars and ECDIS in June.
