JonRie Debuts Container Master Winches
JonRie Marine Winches has introduced its new Container Master Series of winches, featured on the new Crescent 92-foot ASD Mardi Gras. The new winch was designed with increased braking capability and rope capacity to handle the 8,000 TEU containerships calling on the Port of New Orleans, the manufacturer said. The Container Master Series is a heavy duty design to deal with increased loading due to increased sail area of today’s containerships.

ABB Breathes New Life into Canadian Icebreaker
ABB will modernize a Canadian Coast Guard icebreaker, installing the latest hardware and software onboard the 38 year old Pierre Radisson. As part of the complete upgrade to the ship’s power distribution system, eight new drives will also be installed. The contract includes the option to modernize the other two Coast Guard ships, Des Groseilliers and Amundsen, both of which have clocked up more than 30 years of service.
DALO Secures Future with Maritime Simulation
The Danish Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO) and KONGSBERG have renewed their maritime simulation cooperation with the March 2016 signing of a new framework agreement, including a 10-year ‘Long Term System Support Program’ (LTSSP) extension. The contract secures DALO’s access to the latest simulation technology for the next decade and includes migration of the existing KONGSBERG simulators delivered in 2012, to the sophisticated new K-Sim Navigation simulator platform.

France's CMA CGM and China's COSCO Container Lines are to form a four-way vessel-sharing alliance with Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line focused on Asia routes, CMA CGM said on Wednesday. Rotterdam’s Q1 Port Throughput Matches 2015
The Port of Rotterdam handled roughly the same volume of cargo in the first quarter of 2016 as in the same period last year, as an increase in the volume of, mainly, crude oil and oil products put through the port was offset by a more or less equivalent decrease in the volume of dry bulk and containers. COSCO Chose Alliance Partners Based on Size, Value System
China's COSCO Container Lines chose new alliance partners based on size and the value of arrangements, executives from the firm and parent China COSCO Shipping said at a press conference in Shanghai on Wednesday. The executives said four partners plan to inject 3.5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of container capacity into the alliance.
