WE's Direct-drive PM Shaft Generator Solutions for New Chemical Tankers
Energy efficiency solution provider WE Tech Solutions said it has received an order to deliver its direct-drive permanent magnet (PM) shaft generator solution to a series of two 17,500 DWT IMO class II chemical tankers, with an option for two more. The Switch, a technology specialist of megawatt-class PM machines for advanced marine drive trains, will deliver the PM shaft generators to be used in the solutions provided by WE Tech.

Africa’s first ever dredging simulator was launched in the port city of Durban, South Africa – another positive spin-off of ongoing collaboration between Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA), the Transnet Maritime School of Excellence (MSoE), Netherlands based Royal IHC and its world-renowned Training Institute. Containership Catches Fire in Hamburg
A fire erupted aboard the 9,030 TEU containership CCNI Arauco berthed at the port of Hamburg, causing injuries to three workers. Hamburg police reported that the blaze broke out aboard the 300-meter Liberian flagged vessel while in harbor around noon local time. The fire, which according to initial reports was said to be caused by welding work aboard the ship, is being battled by fireboats as well as firefighters on the ground. The injured workers are being treated in a nearby hospital.
