Hapag-Lloyd Selects INTTRA eVGM Service
Shipping company Hapag-Lloyd and ocean shipping electronic marketplace INTTRA announced an agreement under which Hapag-Lloyd will connect with the INTTRA eVGM Service for facilitating compliance with new International Maritime Organization container weight requirements. Under the IMO's Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) Verified Gross Mass (VGM) amendment going into effect on July 1, every shipping container must have a VGM, or certified weight, in order to be loaded onto a ship.
Rotterdam Implements Paperless Container Transfers
In the near future, a physical Customs document will no longer be required to transfer containers from one Maasvlakte terminal to the other within the Port of Rotterdam. Vittoria Shipyard Partners with Peru
Vittoria Shipyard has extended its horizons to the South American market; the Adria-based firm ā an Italian builder of military, paramilitary, commercial, transport and working ships ā has signed an agreement to work with SIMA Perú, a publicly-owned company that plans, builds and maintains ships, including the naval vessels belonging to the Marina de Guerra (Peruvian Navy), in close agreement with the Peruvian Ministry of Defense.
VARD Orders BWT Systems for Topaz Newbuilds
Ballast water treatment (BWT) system Optimarin has picked up an order covering 15 vessels from VARD shipyards. The vessels, VARD 9 21 Design specialist module carriers, will be constructed for ship owner Topaz at two shipyards in Romania - Vard Braila and Vard Tulcea ā and one in Vietnam, Vard Vung Tau. āVARD knows our systems well, having installed some 55 units on their newbuildings across the world since 2011,ā said Optimarin CEO, Tore Andersen.

World's First Offshore Fish Farm Rig
Rolls-Royce signed a contract for the construction and delivery of an eight point mooring system to the worldās first offshore fish farm installation being developed for Ocean Farming AS, a subsidiary of the SalMar Group in Norway. The equipment will be used to secure the installation to the seabed at Frohavet, off the coast of central Norway. The 68 meter high rig will have a diameter of 110 meters and a volume of 250.000 cubic meters.
