CMR Takes Module Approach to BWTS, Controls
A modular approach for Ballast Water Treatment Systems (BWTS) and marine control panels has been developed by CMR Group, specialists in controls, instrumentation and wiring systems for marine and high-horsepower applications. Goldfinch is an advanced engineering process that is based around standard and modular panels for BWTS, enabling OEMs to expand and improve their offering through reduced lead times and cost savings, CMR Group said.
HHI Builds 10,000th HiMSEN 4-Stroke Marine Engine
Shipbuilder and a marine engine manufacturer Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) announced it has produced its 10,000th HiMSEN (Hi-Touch Marine and Stationary Engine) engine installed on a 14,400 TEU containership ordered from Costamare, Greece. The HiMSEN engines are medium speed four-stroke engines that HHI independently developed in 2001 with 10 years of research and development, and can be used for both ship propulsion and power generation for onshore power plants.
DEME Invests in Flemish Dredging Tech
Following a successful laser cladding pilot project in 2015, Belgian dredging, environmental and marine engineering group DEME has signed a three-year cooperation agreement with VITO spin-off Laser Cladding Venture (LCV) to strengthen the cutter incisors used to dredge hard soils. Laser cladding is a coating technique in which a laser melts metal powders into objects. The wear-resistant and anticorrosive layers that are applied improve the durability of the mechanical parts.
Topaz to Supply 14 Vessels for BP in Azerbaijan
Offshore support vessel company Topaz Energy and Marine informs it has secured 14 offshore support vessel contracts with BP Exploration (Caspian Sea) Limited. Under the terms of the agreement, Topaz will supply 14 offshore support vessels for a five-year period plus two one-year options at current market terms, primarily in support of BP’s ACG and Shah Deniz II fields offshore Azerbaijan. The agreement extends currently running contracts for the 14 vessels until 2023 including all options.
