Cavotec Secures €11.5m in Port Equipment Orders
Cavotec announced it has received orders for its port technologies in Australia, Indonesia, Oman, Portugal and Turkey, and for two major shipping lines, with a combined value of more than EUR 11.5 million. Cavotec will supply eight MoorMaster automated mooring units for installation at a container berth at the Port of Salalah in Oman, where a number of MoorMaster units have been in service for several years.
Canaveral Upgrades Bulk Conveyor System
The new $1.5 million bulk conveyor system at Port Canaveral was utilized for the first time by Martin Marietta when the Bahamas Spirit discharged limestone at South Cargo Pier 4. The Canaveral Port Authority invested in the system with Martin Marietta to enhance terminal operational efficiencies and increase productivity. The new and improved conveyor system is now capable of offloading 2,000 tons per hour.
Tsuneishi Builds 200th Kamsarmax Bulk Carrier
Tsuneishi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. finished building an 82,000-mt D/W type bulk carrier Ultra Lion on January 7, 2015, marking the completion of the builder’s 200th Kamsarmax model vessel. Built by Tsuneishi Group Shipbuilding, Inc. at Zhoushan City in the Zhejiang Province of China, the Ultra Lionwill be delivered to buyer KambaraKisen Co., Ltd. The first Kamsarmax bulk carrier was completed in February of 2005.

Hoegh Osaka Update: Salvage Work Resumes
Authorities hope to continue the salvage operations of car carrier vessel Hoegh Osaka which ran aground shortly after its departure from the Port of Southampton January 3. According to the U.K. Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), Hoegh Osaka is currently stable at the anchorage after unexpectedly self-floating yesterday. Three tugs kept the vessel in place overnight despite some high winds in the early hours.
