Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. has selected ABS to provide classification services for newbuilds in China. ABS, a provider of marine and offshore classification services, has been selected by Baoham Offshore (HK) Ltd. to class a drilling semisubmersible and a liftboat. "This award is a reflection of the solid reputation ABS has built as a classification society over more than 30 years in China," said ABS Executive Vice President of Energy Project Development Ken Richardson.

WWI U-Boat Propeller Returned to German Navy

LR to Class Entire NORDEN Fleet
Ship operator Dampskibsselskabet NORDEN A/S, based in Copenhagen, has contracted LR to class 57 ships, including the full NORDEN fleet and other externally managed NORDEN owned ships. Thirty-two of the ships in the agreement will be transfer of class (ToC) ships and includes nine new ships which will transfer to LR upon delivery. Four ships are currently classed by LR and 16 externally managed ships will also be transferred to LR as part of this agreement.

The U.S. Patent Office has issued Patent s/n 9,056,655 to inventors Brandon Durar (JonRie Marine Winches) and Gregory Castleman (Castleman Maritime) for A Staple Torque Aligning Winch System for Escort Tugs. Two barges that drifted against piers of the Starved Rock Dam in Utica, Illinois Sunday afternoon have been safely recovered, the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) reported.
