CMID Reaches 100th Vessel Inspector Application
The CMID (Common Marine Inspection Document) Vessel Inspector Scheme has reached a milestone with the hundredth Vessel Inspector application having been received. The Inspectors accredited so far are based in more than 20 countries, with both the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) and the International Institute of Marine Surveying (IIMS) actively promoting the scheme globally. IMCA has also announced that CMID Version 9 will go live on September 7.
Rolls-Royce to Design, Equip Canadian Stern Trawler
The shipbuilding company VARD Group AS in Norway has received an order from a Canadian company for a shrimp stern trawler to be designed and equipped by Rolls-Royce, whose portion of the deal is worth in excess of £6 million. The fishing vessel, to be delivered from VARD’s Aukra yard in Norway in December 2016, is of Rolls-Royce NVC 374 design and will be around 80 meters long featuring an ICE 1A ice class hull.

Cosco CSCL Merger Talks Continue
The closed-door talks on what is believed to be merger discussions between Cosco and China Shipping continue, reports local media.
