Georgia Ports Enhance Breakbulk Cargo Handling
The Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) has instituted a new tracking system to process breakbulk cargo more quickly, and provide real-time freight tracking for GPA and its customers. "The new system means faster service and better communication with our breakbulk customers," said GPA Executive Director Curtis Foltz. The General Cargo System software shows cargo headed to the Port of Savannah and its current stage in transit.

Dutch towage and salvage specialist Multraship has welcomed into its fleet Multratug 28, an energy efficient hybrid Damen ASD 2810-type tug with FiFi 1 firefighting capabilities. Damen’s ASD 2810 Hybrid is a new design, and this is the second of its class to be built. Featuring diesel-direct, diesel-electric and battery-powered propulsion systems, this hybrid configuration will enable Multraship to lower fuel costs by up to 30 percent and emissions by up to 60 percent, the company said.

To help shipowners meet strict new emission mandates, ExxonMobil expanded its range of fuels for use within Emission Control Areas (ECA) with the introduction of ExxonMobil Premium Advanced Fuel Marine ECA 200 (AFME 200). The fuel joins ExxonMobil Premium HDME 50 as part of a new category of marine fuel that has emerged as a result of the 2015 ECA sulfur limit of 0.10 percent.
