Two New Ships Enter the CMA CGM Fleet
Containerships CMA CGM Loire and CMA CGM Ural were delivered to the CMA CGM Group on February 5 and entered the fleet on February 13 and 14, respectively, marking the arrival of the fifth and sixth vessels of the 9,400 TEUs to 10,900 TEUs series to be delivered through the third quarter of 2016. The CMA CGM Danube, CMA CGM Elbe, CMA CGM Litani and CMA CGM Tigris are the first of this 28 vessel series named after rivers around the world, that started to be delivered on June, 30 2014.

P&O Ferries, MTN Transform Sea Travel Communications
P&O Ferries and MTN Communications (MTN) announce the delivery of high-performance Internet connectivity and access to online content through the first Wi-Fi hot spot on the English Channel. This service is now live on the English Channel on ferries serving the P&O Ferries Dover-Calais route. These vessels are reportedly the first ferries in the world connected to the MTN Terrestrial Broadband Network (TBN), in addition to having back-up satellite connectivity, as many cruise ships do today.
Scrubbers for Two Stena Line Ferries
Two Ro-Ro vessels owned and operated by Stena Line are to be retrofitted with Wärtsilä in-line closed-loop scrubber systems. The scrubbers will be installed on the Stena Transit and Stena Transporter ferries operating between Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands and Killingholme in the U.K. The order was placed with Wärtsilä in December 2014, and the retrofitting is scheduled to take place in Q4 2015 and Q1 2016.
Bureau Veritas Wins Canadian Gas Fuel Contracts
Bureau Veritas (BV) is to class two projects for gas-fuelled vessels to be built for Canadian owners in Turkish shipyards. British Columbia-based Seaspan Ferries has chosen BV class for two hybrid LNG/diesel/battery-powered ro-ro cargo ferries which will be built at the Sedef yard in Turkey. Quebec-based Transport Desgagnes, meanwhile, has chosen BV class for two 14,000 dwt gas-fuelled asphalt/product tankers to be built at Besiktas.
Voith Schneider Propellers for Third CMAL Hybrid Ferry
Scottish-owned Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) has chosen Voith propulsion systems for its new hybrid ferry. Like its sister vessels, MV Hallaig and MV Lochinvar, the new hybrid ferry will be built by Ferguson Shipbuilders in Glasgow. CMAL relies on two VSP 16R5 EC/90-1 as well as two bow-tooth couplings and the Voith electronic control system. The new ferry will use the same electronic control system already installed on the MV Hallaig.
