Ivory Coast abolished a state monopoly on passenger traffic on the lagoon surrounding the commercial capital Abidjan, the government announced on Wednesday, clearing the way for outside investors.
Proposed Federal Budget Includes Funding for New SUNY Maritime Vessel
The proposed 2016 federal budget included funding for the design of new multi-mission vessels that will serve as training ships for the nation’s state maritime academies, including the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime College. President Barack Obama’s $4 trillion proposed budget, released on Monday, included a line item of $5 million for the design of the National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV) as part of the Department of Transportation budget.
Technip Heavy Lift Vessel Drydocked
After having performed the life-time extension works on the Stanislav Yudin (owned and operated by Seaway Heavy Lifting) in 2013-2014 at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam (DSR), part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion, the yard has been awarded a new contract by Technip for the drydocking, upgrades and operational modifications to the deepwater rigid pipe S-lay and heavy lift vessel, the Global 1200. The vessel arrived at the yard in January 2015.
Vestdavit Launches Multi-boat Handling System
Norway-based boat handling system and specialized davit supplier Vestdavit has designed a new multiple-boat handling system which aims to make boat handling safer and simpler in the hangars and mission bays of warships, seismic craft and expedition yachts. The MissionEase system can stow, launch and retrieve up to seven different RIBS, daughter boats and USVs in high seas from within a protected hangar.
RayClean BWTS Earns USCG AMS Acceptance
DESMI Ocean Guard’s RayClean Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) has earned Alternate Management System (AMS) acceptance from the United States Coast Guard (USCG). On January 30, 2015, the USCG granted AMS acceptance to RayClean BWTS, the system’s developer DESMI Ocean Guard A/S announced today. The AMS acceptance covers all salinities ranging from freshwater to marine water, something that only eight out of 52 issued AMS acceptances have achieved to date.
Class Approvals for Alfa Laval PureSOx Scrubber
As the start of enforcement in Emission Control Areas (ECAs) now begins, Alfa Laval, which reported steady growth in exhaust gas cleaning in 2014, said it has the ability to deliver class-approved systems and is prepared for a higher order intake in 2015. Alfa Laval PureSOx is a marine SOx scrubber system allowing the continued use of heavy fuel oil (HFO) while meeting the emission limits for operation in ECAs.
