MTN Communications announced that Carnival Corporation & plc has signed a new agreement for the provision of Internet services to its guests and crew. Panama Canal Reports Record Tonnage

The Panama Canal registered a tonnage record of 87.7 million PC/UMS tons (Panama Canal Universal Measurement System) during the first quarter of the fiscal year (FY), a 4.8% increase from what was forecasted. “These results reaffirm Panama Canal’s impact on international trade and its role of continuing to offer a reliable and competitive service to its customers,” Panama Canal Administrator Jorge L. Quijano said. The Panama Canal fiscal year goes from October 1 to September 30.

The U.S. Coast Guard is planning to widely use sonar to support its maritime security and marine environmental protection missions. The agency currently has limited capability to detect objects below the water’s surface and relies on others (such as the U.S. Navy or the commercial sector) when such detection is needed. Sonar is an acronym for Sound Navigation and Ranging. The principle is similar to radar, used in the atmosphere.

International industrial cleaning contractor Sureclean completed its largest project to date providing services in support of the Haewene Brim FPSO, Brynhild Project modification and upgrade. Through its relationship with Global Energy Group, Sureclean was contracted to carry out work on the Haewene Brim FPSO whilst it was situated in the dry dock at Nigg Energy Park, Ross-shire for modification and upgrade work from July-November 2013.

M.Y Bunkers announced the expansion of its operation in Malta, with the addition of further trucks and trailers. They can now offer a service of up to 150 metric tons of marine gas oil, ex-wharf alongside with a continuous uninterrupted supply.
