Seychelles CG Cadets Enter Seamanship Training
On Friday, March 21, 17 trainees who are part of the Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard received training in seamanship skills on board the Dutch warship, HNLMS Evertsen, operating under NATO Ocean Shield Task Force 508. The Basic Training Program for the Seychelles Coast Guard is a 27 week program for new trainees that have been developed by the Coast Guard and EUCAP Nestor. The program is also supported by other international partners such as Operation Ocean Shield.

Port Canaveral Harbor Expansion Begins
Dispute remains over who pays for maintenance costs for federal channel. The $35 million harbor widening and deepening project at Port Canaveral to allow larger ships greater safety margins for sailing in and out of the port is scheduled to begin next month with completion in November 2014. The project to widen Port Canaveral’s 400-feet wide harbor by 100 feet and deepen the entrance by two feet to 46 feet cleared the final two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permitting hurdles last week.

Aquatic Completes First Carousel Project
Aquatic Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, an Acteon company and subsidiary of Aquatic Engineering & Construction Ltd, inform it has successfully completed its new carousel, the AQCS-01-1500 maiden project. Aquatic partnered with integrated subsea services provider Kreuz Subsea on the project. The carousel was successfully used to install 9.7km of 218mm diameter umbilical in the South Belut field offshore Indonesia for ConocoPhillips.
