Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff on Monday lashed out at critics of Petroleo Brasileiro SA, saying accusations of corruption, cost-overruns and stagnation at the state-run oil company were politically-motivated. "I won't tolerate any type of wrongdoing, criminal action, influence peddling or corruption of any type no matter who commits it," Rousseff said in a campaign-style speech at the launching of an oil tanker at a shipyard near Recife, Brazil.

OSI Maritime Systems announced that it has signed a contract to provide in-service-support for its ECPINS-W Sub software - ECPINS is the only ECDIS independently certified against NATO WECDIS STANAG 4564. The U.S. Coast Guard announced it medevaced a 49-year-old man at approximately 8 a.m. Monday from a fishing boat about 50 miles offshore from Lewes, Del. A crewmember aboard the fishing vessel Mary Elizabeth alerted Coast Guard watchstanders of an ailing crewmember who was in need of immediate medical attention. US Renews ConocoPhillips' Permit for Alaska LNG Export

The U.S. Energy Department on Monday renewed ConocoPhillips' permit allowing the company to export liquefied natural gas from Kenai, Alaska to all countries. The approval was expected. The Associated Press has posted a story which quotes a U.S. military official as saying that a Russian fighter jet -- which apparently was unarmed -- made several close-range fly bys near the US Navy's USS Donald Cook (DDG 75), which is operating in the Black Sea. The captain of the Costa Concordia tried to persuade the crisis coordinator of the cruise line to pretend an electrical blackout had caused the shipwreck, a court was told on Monday. The luxury liner hit rocks as it sailed close to the island of Giglio in January 2012, killing 32 people and setting off a chaotic evacuation of crew and passengers, some of who jumped into the sea and swam ashore.
