Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Guam command center received notification at 11:40 a.m. Sunday of an injured crewmember aboard the merchant vessel Tenso approximately 362 miles east of Guam. The Liberian-flagged cargo ship Tenso requested a medical evacuation for a 39-year-old male crewmember who suffered lacerations to the neck and head. U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Assateague rendezvous with the vessel at 10 a.m.
German Company Pays for Not Reporting Hazardos Conditions

A German company has been sentenced to pay a $1 million fine and another $250,000 to support environmental causes after pleading guilty to two felony environmental charges related to a cargo ship that entered the Port of Long Beach last year with an open crack in its hull that may have caused oil to leak into the port. The company – Herm. Dauelsberg GmbH & Co. KG – pleaded guilty yesterday morning and was sentenced immediately by United States District Judge George H. Wu.

Transas has held a series of Simulation User Seminars in France. The events gathered more than 60 participants from maritime schools, pilot associations, navy and coast guard of the region.
