G-Ship Renewable Energy Propulsion at 25 Knots
The Newport Beach Company G-Ship LLC finished a four-month validation with the CSC, Advanced Marine Center team led by Alexander Landsburg shows 90% fuel savings for containerships. Since the Steamer came along, sailing vessels have stayed the course as the leader in renewable energy propelled ships. Now, G-Ship LLC has come up with a ship design and propulsion system for improved performance at speeds greater than 25 knots.
FMC Recovers $503,000 in Penalties
Chairman Mario Cordero announced that the Federal Maritime Commission has completed compromise agreements recovering a total of $503,000 in civil penalties. The agreements were reached with five non-vessel-operating common carriers (NVOCCs), two unlicensed transport businesses and one vessel-operating common carrier. The agreed penalties resulted from investigations conducted by the Commission’s Area Representatives in Miami and Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. headquarters staff.
Repasa Puts New Stan Tugs to Work
On October 13, Repasa's ASD Tugs assisted the berthing of a LNG tanker with great success. Yesterday the two Damen Stan Tugs 1606, outfitted as line handling boats, sailed to the buoy to receive another tanker for their first mission in Equatorial Guinea. For Repasa, this is a successful start of its new joint venture with P&O Maritime. The Damen Stan Tugs 1606, Red Ant and Red Bee, are the first Damen builds in Repasa’s fleet of workboats which also includes AHT and ASD tugs.
