Seajacks Hydra Commissioned Within 10 Days by Damen
The Seajacks Hydra, a jack-up vessel owned by Seajacks UK Ltd., was commissioned within 10 days at Damen Shiprepair Rotterdam, which is part of Damen Shiprepair & Conversion. In late July, a heavy-lift vessel shipped the Seajacks Hydra platform into the port of Rotterdam. Seajacks Hydra was towed to the repair yard. It was a time-constrained project since the platform had to be delivered to a project of Seajacks which started in August. In spite of the tight schedule, Hydrawas delivered on time.

672 MacGregor MacRack Units on Order
MacGregor, part of Cargotec, has announced that the first units of a 672-strong MacRack orderbook are now being installed. The units are destined for a total of 38 ships for various owners; 35 of which are for 180,000 dwt bulk carriers and the remaining three are for 87,000 dwt bulkers. Each of the larger vessels will be fitted with 18 MacRack units and the smaller vessels will each feature 14 units. MacRack is an electric-drive system for side-rolling hatch covers.
Cat to Power Ferries for 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro
Caterpillar Marine and Cat Dealer Pon Power announced the first Cat 3512C marine generator sets with Dynamic Gas Blending (DGB) have been selected to power Assessoria Transporte Aquaviaro fast ferries for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A total of 28 Cat generator sets will be installed on seven aluminum-hull fast ferries, with 14x Cat 3512 generator sets and 14x Cat 9 generator sets providing prime and auxiliary power.
Panama Canal Receives Third Shipment of Gates for Expansion
The four gates arrived Sunday on board the Post-Panamax vessel Xia Zhi Yuan 6 owned by COSCO Ocean Shipping. The shipment began its journey from Trieste, Italy on August 17 before crossing the Atlantic Ocean to reach the entrance of the Panama Canal, where they will be unloaded onto a special temporary dock. Only one shipment is left to receive all 16 gates required for the Third Set of Locks project. These gates will be used in the new locks at the Pacific side of the Canal.
