Ocean Power and Mitsui to Commercialize PowerBuoy
Ocean Power Technologies, Inc. (OPT) and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (MES) announced that they have signed a new agreement to cooperate in the development and commercialization of OPT's PowerBuoy technology. Building on the successful work previously done together by the companies, this agreement sets forth the terms of technology licensing and other financial arrangements between MES and OPT regarding OPT's PowerBuoy systems.
Navy League Past National President Daniel B. Branch Dies at 75
The Navy League of the United States mourns the death of its past national president, Capt. Daniel B. Branch Jr., USN retired. He died on Oct. 21, 2013, of complications from mesothelioma cancer at the age of 75. Memorial services will be held Thursday Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at St. Ambrose Episcopal Church, 7520 South Boulder Road, Boulder, Colo. Burial services will be held at a future date at the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md.

Rolls-Royce to Supply Rig Equipment for Samsung Heavy
Rolls-Royce has signed a contract to supply thrusters and deck machinery for two semi-submersible drilling rigs to be built at Samsung Heavy Industries in Korea for Stena Drilling. Rolls-Royce reported the value of the contract to be around £22.5 million. Rolls-Royce is a supplier of large thrusters and deck machinery to the offshore drilling market. So far the company has delivered 1,200 thrusters to close to 200 rigs and drillships, and mooring systems to 25 rigs.
