The Liberian International Ship & Corporate Registry (LISCR), the US-based manager of the Liberian Registry, has appointed Takeshi Okamoto as president and managing executive officer of its dedicated office in Tokyo with effect from January 4, 2013. He succeeds Shigeki Fukuda, who will now assume the role of chairman of LISCR Japan, in which capacity he will continue to be active in the strategic management of the registry.

Coast Guard Investigating Allision at Bay Bridge, San Francisco
The Coast Guard is investigating a vessel allision with the San Francisco Bay Bridge. The 752-foot Marshall Island's-registered tanker Overseas Reymar reported to the Coast Guard at approximately 11:20 a.m. that it had allided with tower six of the Bay Bridge in the San Francisco Bay. The vessel was immediately directed to an anchorage area just west of Alcatraz Island by the Coast Guard Captain of the Port. The vessel was in ballast at the time of the incident.

Wayward Rig 'Kulluk' Safely Arrives Kiliuda Bay
The 'Kulluk', towed by the 'AHTS Aiviq' has arrived in the safe harbor for assessment of any damage caused by its recent grounding. The Kulluk was refloated from its Ocean Bay position, off Sitkalidak Island, late Jan. 6, and will remain connected to its support vessels while it undergoes assessment in Kiliuda Bay, located about 30 miles north of Ocean Bay. The final location for assessment within the Bay will be determined by environmental conditions, including weather.

COSCO (Dalian) Shipyard Co., Ltd has delivered a bulk carrier of 92,500 dwt, Sicilian Express, a post-panamax bulk carrier and the last in a series of four bulk carriers being built for Vroon at this shipyard. The ship measures 229.17 meters in LOA, 38.01 meters in breadth and 20.7 meters in depth.
