Hertel Signs to Build Hansteen Living Quarter
Hertel Offshore signed a €70 million contract with Hyundai Heavy Industries for the engineering, design and construction (EPC) of the new accommodation for Statoil’s Aasta Hansteen platform. This is another big Norwegian contract for Hertel Offshore and follows on from the award for Statoil’s Valemon Living Quarter (LQ) project in 2011 and the Shell Norge Draugen Additional Living Quarter project in 2012, both currently under construction in the Rotterdam facility.

Conquest MB I, a 1,500-ton offshore heavy lift crane barge from Conquest Offshore worked (off)loading at the quay of Heerema, Flushing, the Netherlands. When changing from 400t, 800t to 1,600t hook block there is no need to change wires, blocks or sheaves. The blocks enables custom reeving for every project, being able to create lifting speeds up towards 1.5 meters per second. The swing system is powered by eight 22kW electrically driven motors operated through 2x2x2x2 left-right switch basis.

Strategic Delivers Jati Five, Confirms New Order
Strategic Marine, a specialist shipbuilder in Asia-Pacific, delivered the Jati Five crew transfer vessel to Malaysian owner, Dinasti Jati Sdn Bhd. The company also confirmed it has received an order for two additional ships in the range, the Jati Six and Jati Eight. The Jati Five, ordered last year and completed to one of Strategic Marine’s established in-house designs, was delivered at the company’s regional shipyard headquarters in Singapore.
Tidal Energy Modelling Tool Launched
The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) and HR Wallingford launched a tidal energy modeling tool for use by tidal energy developers to identify the most efficient sites for tidal energy converters, tidal arrays or tidal barrage schemes around the U.K. and French coastlines. The computer program, SMARTtide (Simulated Marine Array Resource Testing), incorporates a 2D hydrodynamic model of the U.K.’s continental shelf and the north-west European coastline.

MHI Contracted for 3D Seismic Survey Vessels
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) gets additional order to build 2 seismic vessels for Norway's Petroleum Geo-Services ASA (PGS). The order for the two vessels was placed upon exercise by PGS of the option right that was provided when two same type vessels were ordered to MHI in April 2011.
