ExxonMobil Launches New Marine Cylinder Oil
ExxonMobil Marine Fuels & Lubricants has launched Mobilgard 5100, a specially formulated cylinder oil designed to mitigate the effects of cold corrosion in new design two-stroke marine engines operating on heavy fuel oil. Mobilgard 5100 joins Mobilgard 560 VS and Mobilgard 570 as the latest addition to ExxonMobil’s range of world class cylinder oils, with each product specifically engineered to help ship operators increase vessel reliability and reduce operating costs.
Maersk Orders Routing Software for 110+ Vessels
The Dutch weather routing software supplier Meteo Consult and Amarcon, have received an order from Maersk Line to equip a minimum of 110 Maersk Line container vessels with SPOS Seakeeping. The Seakeeping plug-in is a feature within Meteo Consults weather routing software SPOS. With this plug-in the user can define vessel loading conditions and motion threshold values based on the input of Amarcon’s OCTOPUS-Onboard.
Richardson Devine Launch Super Dream
Incat Crowther announced the launch of Super Dream, a 32m Catamaran Passenger Ferry for Ishigaki Dream Tours. Recently launched by Richardson Devine Marine, Super Dream is the second Incat Crowther/RDM vessel for the operator following on from Premium Dream, launched in 2008. Incat Crowther said the Super Dream demonstrates its commitment to constant evolution by being a modern interpretation of the previous vessel.

As with other expansions, carried out by Chairman and CEO Harley Franco, this one, the tenth subsidiary company in the group, includes a significant new-build program. First of Three Incat Crewboats Delivered in Brazil
Incat Crowther announced the launch and delivery of BS Maresias. Built by Arpoador Engenharia Ltda, BS Maresias is the first of three 45m Monohull Crewboats meeting the specifications of the Petrobras P3-type crewboat for service in the Brazilian offshore oil fields. The vessel’s design features a large aft main cargo deck optimized for cargo and crew transfers. The 78m2 cargo space has a cargo capacity of 150t.

MBC Books Second Tug Order in Three Months
Cape Town-based black empowerment shipping company, Marine Bulk Carriers (MBC) and its partners have placed a second R300m order for an Anchor Handling Tug and Supply (AHTS) vessel. News of the second order was announced at MBC’s 10th anniversary function, held in Cape Town, last night (13 November, 2013). The 78m, 12 000 horsepower AHTS vessels, which are being built by Guangxin Shipbuilding of Guangdon in China, will be South African owned and crewed by South Africans.
