Drilling Rig Delivered in Las Palmas
Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Summit has delivered rig Ocean Valiant safely in the port of Las Palmas, Canary Islands. Fairmount Summit has towed the rig from offshore Cameroon over a distance of almost 3,000 miles. The Ocean Valiant is a semi-submersible drilling rig owned by Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc., headquartered in Houston, U.S. The 1988 build rig is 122 meters long, 71 meters wide and 37 meters high, is capable to drill up to 10,000 meters deep and can accommodate 140 persons.

An official opening of the upgraded training complex equipped with the Transas state-of-the-art simulators for N.Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy took place on September, 30. Numerous high-rank officials attended the ceremony, dedicated to the start of a new academic year. Among them was Mr. Rosen Plevenliev, the president of Bulgaria and the supreme commander of the armed forces, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, the deputy minister of defense, and many others.

With an eye on the growing Intra-Asian trade routes Germanischer Lloyd (GL) developed a novel container vessel design concept: the C-Dragon. C-Dragon measures 211.9m in length between perpendiculars and 37.3m wide, with a loading capacity of 3,736 TEU. The concept targets the actual condition with short roundtrips and many port calls and is designed to outperform cascading older tonnage in terms of fuel efficiency, port turnaround and cargo intake.

Kleven Net OCV Construction Contract
Kleven has signed a contract with Østensjø Rederi in Haugesund, Norway, for the building of a 150 m long offshore construction vessel. Total contract value is NOK 1.4 billion, making it the largest contract ever for Kleven. The highly advanced vessel of SALT 304 OCV design will be equipped with a 400t crane, a 70t crane, Vertical Lay System and carousel. The vessel is to be delivered from Kleven Verft in Ulsteinvik, Norway in Q1 2016, and will enter into a long time chart for Deep Ocean.
