Bibby Offshore HQ in Final Stage of Construction
The new purpose-built headquarters for subsea installation contractor, Bibby Offshore is entering its final phase of construction. The new 53,427 sq. ft. office facility at Prospect Park, Westhill, which represents a multi-million pound investment, is on track to be completed by April 2013. Bibby Offshore staff are due to relocate from its existing offices at Waterloo Quay to the new premises by the end of May 2013.

Hyundai Heavy Wins $2 Billion Offshore Facilities Order
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), a shipbuilder and leading offshore facilities contractor received a letter of award for a $1.3 billion (USD) order for a floating production unit (FPU) and a $700 million order for a tension leg platform (TLP) from Total E&P Congo on March 26. Hyundai Heavy will carry out engineering, procurement, supply, construction and commissioning for the two offshore facilities to be deployed in Moho Nord field, 80 km off Republic of the Congo’s coast.

Imtech Appointed as Inmarsat Reseller
Inmarsat has signed an agreement with Imtech Marine, appointing the full-service provider and systems integrator as a Value Added Reseller (VAR) for Global Xpress serving the worldwide maritime market. This follows on from a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two companies in 2012. Global Xpress will offer global superfast mobile broadband with download speeds of up to 50Mbps through a 60-100cm antenna.

Chevron Corporation has announced an oil discovery at the Coronado prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. The Walker Ridge Block 98 Well No. 1 encountered more than 400 feet (122 m) of net pay. The well is located approximately 190 miles (308 km) off the Louisiana coast in 6,127 feet (1,868 m) of water and was drilled to a depth of 31,866 feet (9,713 m). The well results are still being evaluated, and additional work is needed to determine the extent of the resource.
