Kvaerner Wins EPC Contract for Hebron GBS Project
ExxonMobil Canada Properties has released the option for Kvaerner's joint venture company Kiewit-Kvaerner Contractors to provide the full scope of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services for the Hebron Project gravity based structure (GBS). 400 Officers Certified in Navmaster ECDIS
While staying on board ship and continuing with their duties, over 400 navigating officers have earned formal certification in Navmaster ECDIS. The training course launched by PC Maritime nearly a year ago meets STCW requirements and standards set out by the Nautical Institute for ECDIS familiarization. Available on standalone DVD, the PC Maritime package uses text, voiceover and video and requires users to carry out actions just as they would on Navmaster ECDIS.

Divers from Royal Navy ice patrol ship HMS Protector braved the chilling temperatures to monitor the state of sunken research ship 'MV Bahia Paraiso'. EU Naval Force Flagship ESPS Méndez Núnez assists 'MV Smyrni' after it sails out of the Somali pirate's holding anchorage. MV Smyrni, with a crew of 26, was carrying 135,000 tonnes of crude oil when she was hijacked on 11 May 2012. After ten months of being held in a pirate anchorage off the Somali coast, it is understood that a ransom was paid for the vessel, and on 10 March 2013, she was released by her captors.
NYK Change 13,000 Car Carrier Lights
Car Carriers change to latest energy-saving units: part of sales proceeds to aid Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction efforts. To make improvements in energy and economic efficiency, NYK has installed E·COOL, a next-generation energy-saving fluorescent lighting system produced by Optrom, Inc., on six NYK-operated car carriers. Since April 2012, approximately 13,000 fluorescent lights have been replaced by E·COOL.
