ROV Seamor Evolution of a Brand

Originally developed in the mid-1980s by two Canadians, Seamor was intended to become a simple, low-cost, underwater “flying” video camera system that could be easily deployed from a small boat and enjoyed by those who wanted to enjoy the underwater world without getting wet – a “Recreational ROV.” Today, more than 30 years later, that market is still in its infancy. The first Seamor prototype consisted of two aluminum tubes strapped to an aluminum frame.
FLIR Introduces MU-Series Thermal Imaging Technology

FLIR Systems, introduces the MU-Series, a thermal night vision system. The multi-sensor payload comes with a cooled midwave infrared, high-resolution 640 x 512 thermal camera and a high-resolution color camera.Other options include a low-light black and white camera to help with low-light situational awareness and a wide field of view uncooled longwave infrared, high-resolution 640 x 480 thermal camera to maximize MU-Series’ spectral range.

The T200 detects floating objects, navigation aids, other vessels, and even people in the water using FLIR thermal imaging technology and now even small boats can see at night with the fixed mount thermal night vision cameras. Engineered for smaller vessels, the T200 Series is both compact and lightweight. The T200’s dimensions (7” high and 5.9” in diameter) make it best suited for smaller vessels where larger thermal camera models were previously considered impractical.

Formerly President of Dometic Marine, Frank Marciano has been appointed President of Dometic Americas for all divisions after Dometic Group announced a global reorganization and restructuring. The new management and business structure was enacted by the company’s global CEO, Roger Johansson, and was effective from February 1. Marciano, who is based at the Marine headquarters in Pompano Beach, Florida, is a 22-year employee of Dometic.

The M/T Jascon, due to arrive from Singapore next week, intends to lift the heavy section of the grounded USS Guardian clear of the reef. The Jascon is equipped with a DP system which will enable it to maintian position without anchoring.
