New RoRo Added to SC Line Fleet
SC Line announces the addition of another 1/4 ramp RoRo vessel into its fleet, MV 'Mosel Ace'. In line with its strategic and strengthening position in the Americas, SC Line introduces Mosel Ace to serve initially the US East coast from Baltimore to Zarate where it would reposition in the short term to call specific ports between Colombia, Argentina and Brazil. Coast Guard, NTSB Investigating NYC Ferry Allision
Coast Guard, partner agencies respond to ferry allision in Manhattan. The Coast Guard is responding to an allison that occurred at the Pier 11 ferry terminal in Manhattan, N.Y. Fifty-seven injuries have been reported after the ferry Seastreak allided with the pier at 8:45 a.m. Two rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station New York, along with FDNY and NYPD are responding to the scene. An investigation team from Coast Guard Sector New York is also responding.

Port of Kiel’s Annual Results Show a Slight Rise
More than 6.3 million tons of cargo and 2.2% more passengers handled. The Port of Kiel ended the year 2012 with a small plus in both cargo and passenger handling. Last year more than 6.3 million tons of cargo (an increase of 0.3%) were turned round for the first time. That was an increase – if only a small one – over handling posted in 2011. In the passenger sector more than 1.9 million travellers either boarded or disembarked from a ferry or cruise ship last year.

Great Lakes Coal Trade Down 8.2 Percent in 2012
Shipments of coal on the Great Lakes totaled 25,347,709 tons in 2012, a decrease of 8.2 percent compared to 2011. The trade was 25 percent off its 5-year average.
