Latvia Navy Accepts Locally-built Patrol Boat
Patrol boat 'Viesite', built in the country's Riga Shipyard, has been accepted by Latvia's Ministry of Defence. The building of patrol ship Viesīte was started June 17th, 2009 and it is third of five new SWATH type patrol ships built for the Latvian Navy, this vessel having been completely built in JSC “Rīgas kuģu būvētava”. Other patrol boats in the newbuilding project were in attendance including Skrunda and Cēsis, as well as headquarters and procurement ship Varonis.
Chinese Research Ship's Nigerian Mission
Chinese scientific research ship 'Dayang Yihao' starts research mission with Nigerian & Chinese scientists on board. More than 100 Chinese and Nigerian scientists and officials attended a ceremony at Apapa Harbour, Lagos, on the launching of the cooperative mission. This is the first time that marine scientists from China and Nigeria have worked together on sea research, said Tang Yong, the chief scientist of the ship's research team.

Second RB-M C Delivered to NYPD
Kvichak Marine Industries, of Seattle, WA, recently delivered the second 44.5’ Response Boat Medium – C (RB-M C) to the New York City Police Harbor Unit. The first hull, P.O. Edward Byrne, has been in service since April 2010 providing maritime security and law enforcement along with search and rescue in the New York metropolitan area. A third vessel is currently under construction at Kvichak with delivery scheduled for late October 2012.
Delivery of Two Anchor Handlers to Superior Energy
Kvichak Marine Industries recently delivered two (2) 38’ Anchor Handling utility vessels to Superior Energy Services out of Houston, TX. The all-aluminum vessels are hard-chined monohulls designed by Kvichak in conjunction with Superior and fitted with a forward skeg along with forward and aft push knees, heated decks and windows, then rounded out with subsea navigation equipment plus a subsea winch.
Latest GEOSHIPS Vessel Secures Multimillion Pounds Worth of Contracts
GEOSHIPS Group has announced two contract wins worth a combined value of £3 million for the company’s latest vessel. Following an open day on-board the Loch Roag for potential clients, the vessel secured work in the North Sea with two new customers for GEOSHIPS. The forecasted revenue for the DP2 (dynamically positioned) multi purpose support vessel for the next 12 months is valued at nearly £10 million.
