Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Sherpa has delivered rig Atwood Condor fast and safely in Port of Spain, Trinidad. The semi submersible rig was towed from Port Louis, Mauritius, over a distance of 8,100 nautical miles with an average speed of 8.5 knots. The Atwood Condor is a 2012 Singapore build dynamically positioned semi submersible drilling unit capable of operating in 3,050 meters of water and drilling depths up to 12,200 meters.

Höegh Autoliners enters into 12 year bare boat charters for two 6, 500 car capacity Pure Car Truck Carriers (PCTC) to be delivered by DSME in 2014. Korean Shipyard Launches PIL Container Ship
The first ship of four 2800TEU container ships, 'Kota Gaya', for Pacific International Lines (PIL) launched from Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Ulsan, S.Korea. Navgathi Marine is providing the project management for the new-buildings for Pacific International Lines and Navgathi’s professional team is on site to manage the project. The Kota Gaya is of 222 m LOA, beam 30 m and a 12 m scantling draft. She is powered by Hyundai-MAN B&W 8L70MC-C8.1 engines of nominal rating 26,160 KW x 108.0 RPM.

Seven out of eight steam boilers of the propulsion machinery were found defective during sea trials of 'INS Vikramaditya', delivery date put back. The Vikramaditya, formerly the Russian Navy's Admiral Gorshkov, is to be handed over to India from a Russia shipyard after ongoing sea trials following a much-delayed refit. According to the latest agreements, it was to have been handed over on December 4, but the deadline has been postponed again until October 2013.

U.S. Coast Guard Cutter 'Jarvis' returns to homeport Honolulu, after completing the final patrol of 40 years in service. The Jarvis holds the distinction of being the first Coast Guard cutter to be commissioned in Hawaii, and has called Honolulu home since being commissioned Aug. 4, 1972. The cutter is named after Captain David H. Jarvis, who led an expedition to rescue 300 whalers stranded off Barrow Point, Alaska in 1897. Jarvis will be honored at a ceremony in Honolulu Oct.

'Miraculous' Rescue of Man Overboard
Swiber Holdings' tugboat 'Swiber Charlton' fortuitously picked up a Thai man floating in open water 'twixt Vietnam & Singapore. “Swiber Charlton” was on its way back from Vung Tau, Vietnam to Singapore when the crew spotted at a far distance, a man floating but alive, in the open waters of the South China Sea. The vessel closed, a lifebuoy was thrown to him, and the survivor was brought up on the deck where he was quickly administered first aid.
