Gas Tankship Equipment Contract for Wärtsilä Hamworthy
Wärtsilä Hamworthy contracted by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard for cargo handling equipment & engineering for four Exmar Shipping SA gas carriers. Wärtsilä Hamworthy’s scope of supply will include cargo related engineering including deck tank engineering, reliquefaction plant, Wärtsilä Moss inert gas generator, Wärtsilä Svanehøj cargo pumps, cargo heater and vaporiser, cargo control system, supervision and commissioning. All equipment and engineering services will be delivered in 2013.
Iran Submarine Returns to Persian Gulf After Refit
Russian-built 'Kilo-class' diesel-electric submarine repaired by Iranian engineers after original builders declined the work. Iran has returned a Russian-built Project 877 class (NATO Kilo) diesel-electric submarine to the waters of the Persian Gulf following a refit, IRNA news agency reports. The refitted boat, the Tareq, was relaunched at the port of Bandar Abbas. Iran has three Project 877 boats bought from Russia in the 1990s.
New Icebreaker for Russian Arctic
Shipbuilders at Baltiisky Yard starts the construction of Russia’s biggest and most modern diesel-engined icebreaker. The start of construction was marked by a ceremony at the Baltiiksky Yard in Saint Petersburg, Russia. According to the ship designers Petrobalt, the vessel will be 146,8 meters long and have a deadweight of 22258 tons. It will have a crew of 38 and will be able to operate autonomously for 60 days in up to two meters thick ice.
