Cruise Ships on the River – 'Viking Longship' Christening
Viking River Cruises christened the first four of its new Viking Longships in Amsterdam, in the presence of appointed celebrity 'Godparents' for all four new ships. Accommodating 190 passengers, the new Viking Longships are 443 feet (135 meters) long and feature 95 staterooms per ship and are scheduled to sail four of Viking's most popular European itineraries, including the River Danube, and other of European major rivers.
Marine Diesel Engine Passes Acceptance Test
The Wärtsilä X35 is a completely new Wärtsilä engine that, together with the Wärtsilä X40, will cover the small-bore end of the market. The engines will be used for smaller bulk carriers, product tankers and container feeder vessels. It is a segment where Wärtsilä has not been present for a number of years. This new electronically controlled low speed engine, the Wärtsilä X35, has successfully passed its Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
