When Portland, Maine needed an aluminum fire/rescue boat, the city brought on builder A.F. Theriault & Son. The resulting 65-ft City of Portland features a medical bay identical to land-based ambulances, multiple water cannons and a complete Delta T ventilation system. "We offer Delta T Systems as optional equipment, but they have such a great reputation that many architects will incorporate them into their designs," said Theriault & Son VP of production Graham Oakley.
USNS Comfort Completes Haiti Mission
Hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) has completed its mission departed the Joint Task Force-Haiti area of operations. Over the course of seven weeks, the ship's U.S military and civilian medical personnel treated 871 patients, receiving at the height of the recovery effort one patient every six to nine minutes. But now, thanks to more field hospitals ashore and fewer patients in need of specialized care, the ship has not had patients on board for more than a week.

Hellespont Extends PSV Fleet
The Hamburg-based Hellespont group has extended its fleet of platform supply vessels with the delivery of the 3,250 dwt Hellespont Dione. Built at Drydocks World, Batam, the vessel is the fifth sister ship to join the Hellespont offshore fleet. The previous four vessels were all built in Cochin, India. Jack-Up Crane Vessels, Wärtsilä-IMS Design
Wärtsilä, in consortium with IMS Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH, has been engaged by RWE Innogy, the renewable energy arm of the German utility company RWE, as its designer to provide the basic design and consultancy services for a jack up crane vessel. Two such vessels with GL class-approval have been ordered by RWE Innogy to be used for constructing offshore wind farms. The shipbuilding contracts have been awarded to Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd.

T&T Marine Salvage Responds to Oil Spill
T&T Marine Salvage helped clean up an oil spill after a collision between an oil tanker and a barge spilled 450,000 gallons of crude oil into the Sabine-Neches Waterway. T&T Marine Salvage responded to the oil spill by mobilizing 50 personnel. 20,000 ft of spill boom, a 1,500-bbl skimming vessel, response vessels, portable skimmers, eight portable fire pumps and other equipment. “T&T Marine cleanup operations were performed around the clock,” said Vice President Kevin Teichman.
