T&T Bisso Serves Cook Inlet & Alaska Areas
T&T Bisso Response recently deployed emergency response resources to serve the Cook Inlet and Alaska areas. T&T Bisso displayed its emergency response capabilities by conducting equipment exercises in Kachemak Bay in partnership with Cook Inlet Spill Prevention and Response. The emergency response equipment will remain permanently based in Alaska. Multiple emergency response assets were deployed during the week-long exercises attended by representatives of Prince William Sound shippers, the U.S.
PacifiCat Ferries Sold
The Washington Marine Group of Companies announced that is has sold the three PacifiCat ferries to foreign buyer, Abu Dhabi Mar, for export from Canada. The details of the transaction are confidential. The three ferries will be transported from Vancouver Harbour via heavy lift deep-sea vessel. The first is scheduled to depart next month. Floating LNG Contracts to Technip, Samsung
Shell Gas & Power Developments BV signed a master agreement with a consortium comprising Technip and Samsung for the design, construction and installation of multiple floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facilities over a period of up to fifteen years. Shell and Technip-Samsung also signed a contract for execution of the front end engineering and design (FEED) for Shell's 3.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) FLNG solution.

Canada Launches Shipbuilding Consultation
July 27 marked the opening of the Government of Canada's Shipbuilding Consultation, which seeks input from key stakeholders on comprehensive and viable options for a long-term, sustainable Canadian shipbuilding strategy. The Government is committed to building and maintaining an effective federal fleet of ships for maritime security and services. Fleet renewal plans could see the Government invest in excess of $40 billion to build more than 50 large vessels over the next 30 years.

Petraeus Awards Maersk Rescuers
The head of U.S. Central Command visited the guided-missile destroyer USS Bainbridge while in port to thank sailors for their work while deployed to U.S. 5th Fleet, as well as for their role in the rescue of Richard Phillips, the Maersk Alabama cargo ship captain held captive by Somali pirates.
