Making its halfway stopover in Boston this month, the quadrennial competition known as the Everest of Sailing began October 2008 in Alicante, Spain and covers over 37,000 nautical miles. Quantum Wins Cutter Contract
Quantum Marine Engineering won a contract to engineer, design, supply and support the roll stabilization systems for the U.S. Coast Guard's new class of Fast Response Cutters designated as the WPC project. Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. is the prime contractor for this new class of cutters. The contract calls for up to 34 of these new ships to be built and delivered to the USCG over a multi-year contract.
