A keel-laying ceremony was held for two Ulstein-designed offshore wind service operation vessels (SOV) on Wednesday at the ZPMC yard.Shanghai Electric, a Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, ordered the two vessels of the Ulstein SX195 and SX197 designs.The SX195 is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2023, while the SX197 is expected to be delivered in early 2024.The vessels offer accommodation for 60 POB and 100 POB respectively. The design includes Ulstein's X-BOW and the X-STERN design for soft motions and increased comfort.

France-based LNG carrier tank designer GTT has received an order from the Chinese shipyard Hudong Zhonghua (HZ) for the tank design of the first four LNG carriers for the Qatargas project on behalf of the ship-owner MOL.GTT will design the tanks of these four new LNG carriers with a total LNG tank capacity of 174,000 m3 per ship and will be fitted with the membrane containment system developed by GTT.The delivery of the vessels is scheduled for the third quarter of 2024 and the second quarter of 2025. GTT did not share financial details of the tank design contract with HZ.

Norwegian ship designer Sirius Design & Integration has won a contract with Norway-based company Gen2 Energy AS to design two specialized ships for the transport of large quantities of containers with compressed hydrogen.The Gen2 container carriers will be about 190 meters long and will be able to carry 500 40-foot containers."The vessels will be designed with the aim of leaving the least possible climate footprint. Finnish engineering company Aker Arctic Technology Oy said that its Arctic condensate tanker Boris Sokolov has now been transporting gas condensate from Sabetta to various ports in Europe for more than half a year.Last spring, Aker Arctic’s expedition team carried out full-scale ice trials on the vessel based on our Aker ARC 212 design.In order to evaluate the performance of the vessel, the fully-laden Boris Sokolov deviated from her regular route and headed towards the Siberian coast to seek ice conditions that were closer to the tanker’s maximum independent icebreaking capability.
