Maersk's APM Terminals to Double Capacity in Rotterdam Port
APM Terminals, a subsidiary of Danish shipping company Maersk, plans to double its capacity at Rotterdam Port, a spokesperson for the company said on Tuesday. APM, one of the largest operators at the port, currently operates a one-kilometer-long quay in Rotterdam capable of loading and discharging the largest class of deep-sea container ships. The spokesperson said they could not provide financial details ahead of a formal announcement planned for Friday.

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (“K” LINE) and Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (J-POWER) decided to install the “Seawing”, an automated kite system using wind power, on Corona Citrus, an 88,000 DWT-type special coal carrier for J-POWER.Completed on September 11, 2019, the 230 x 38m Corona Citrus is equipped with a ballast water treatment system and a SOx scrubber, too. The new “Seawing” is expected to reduce CO2 emissions from the ship by at least 20%.

ZIM and Shell Complete First LNG Bunkering in Jamaican Waters
ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd. and Shell International Petroleum Company Limited announced the successful bunkering of the ZIM SAMMY OFER containership with liquefied natural gas (LNG), marking the first LNG bunkering operation in Jamaican waters. The vessel was bunkered at Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) on March 26, 2023. The ZIM SAMMY OFER is the first in a series of ten 15,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel containerships which ZIM plans to deploy on their ZCP trade line.
