Great Lakes Iron Ore Trade Surges in September
Shipments of iron ore on the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway totaled 6.5 million tons in September, an increase of 23.4 percent compared to a year ago, the Lake Carriers' Association (LCA) said. Shipments also bettered the month’s 5-year average by 8.5 percent. According to the LCA, shipments from U.S. ports totaled 6.2 million tons in September, an increase of 25.8 percent compared to a year ago.
Ulstein Bags Polar Expedition Vessel Order
First polar newbuild ordered for the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet. Expedition cruising and adventure travel company Lindblad Expeditions Holdings, Inc. has signed an agreement with Norwegian shipbuilder and ship designer Ulstein to build a new polar expedition ship for delivery in the first quarter of 2020, with an option for two additional ships to be delivered in subsequent years.
Wilhelmsen Leverages Data on DNV GL’s Veracity Platform
Wilhelmsen is exploring concrete ways of leveraging their data on DNV GL’s Veracity industry platform.
