Quadriga Aqua, Green Investment opportunity with an ROI of 15-20%
The Quadriga Aqua project from Sailing Cargo Inc. is designed to be the world’s biggest commercial sailing vessel, combining environment-friendly sail propulsion with innovative seafood farming technology.
Sailing Cargo Inc. is changing the future of global fishing while proving the value of clean shipping. The German company is building the world’s largest zero-emission sailing vessel in order to respond to the increasing global demand for healthy salmon and protein in the most efficient and environmentally sustainable manner.
The Quadriga Aqua is set to become the first sustainable & mobile aquaculture on board a sailing ship with high-end circular-process technology. The ship combines state-of-the-art Sailing Technology, electric engines and ship-based sustainable aquaculture, supplied with 100% emissions-free energy.

“The world is facing a rising increase in global fish demand. This results in a supply deficit of approximately 33 million metric tons expected by 2030,” said Uwe Köhler, the owner, founder and CEO of Sailing Cargo. “With our project “Quadriga Aqua” we not only aim to offer an efficient solution to the supply and demand gap of fish but we want to deliver the most sustainable alternative to RAS and NetCages as we are committed to contributing to a carbon-neutral future. Our excellent team of experts wants to set up a holistic and sustainable value chain for partners and clients while offering 100% organic and naturally harvested fish." |
With a 7,200 sq. m. sail area, a single controllable Dyna Rigg Sail system, Quadriga Aqua will be the world’s biggest sailing vessel completely powered by water and wind generators, allowing emission savings up to 98 %. The CO2-Neutral Sailing Ship offers a new dimension of seafood farming by hosting the first sustainable seafood farm onboard its vessel. The fish is farmed and harvested in mobile fish tanks that will be continuously supplied with fresh seawater through opening flaps in the ship’s hull, controlled by the natural pressure and constant movement of the ocean.
The target of the Sailing Cargo and its partners is to enter the aquaculture market with an excellent product, produced independently in sustainable organic - sashimi graded - premium quality. Sailing Cargo expects to operate profitably after five years.
Its calculations are based on current market data displayed in Models 1 & 2. Model 1, first refer to one ship in the period of one year and the current minimum purchase market price ($13.50/kg, actually). Model 2 shows the data on the basis of the kilo price that the Swisslachs (Swiss Alpine Fish AG) achieves with a comparable organic salmon product - Retail price actually $144|kg. Its assumption refers to direct marketing to high-end gastronomy at 50% of the Swisslachs price, which means - $72/kg.
There are already acceptance requests by different seafood distributors to receive their complete capacities of the first production. Sailing Cargo contends that salmon is an ideal fish to start with: It is in demand, fetches a high price and it is of great nutritional value because Salmon is healthy, rich in vitamins, it transports unsaturated fatty acids, and also tastes good. In short, salmon is an excellent first candidate for this project.
Peter Döhle Schiffahrts KG advised in ship design and construction planning while SDC Ship Design & Concept GmbH, shipbuilding engineers, will ensure the complete functionality and safety of the ship design. Dykstra will design the sailing and rig technology for the carbon-neutral propulsion of the ship. Lloyd´s Register, which has been supporting the project since its inception, will grant authorization to operate the ship.
Sailing Cargo is currently seeking partners and investors who want to be part in changing the future of fish farming in a carbon-neutral environment.
