For any job seeker, what they will earn is one of the most important factors. Some organizations list hourly rates, while others list day rates- there are countless ways to see what you will earn in any position. Military Sealift Command has always paid our civil service mariners (CIVMARs) well, but when one looks at the published salary, they may have been discouraged by the low number shown. This is because it is the most basic, base rate and does not include the overtime, the pay based on ship assignment, any hazard pays, etc.
