ZIM Joins DCSA

Israel cargo shipping company Zim Integrated Shipping Services (ZIM) announced that it has joined the Digital Shipping Association (DCSA) dedicated to digitization and standardization in the container shipping industry.

ZIM CIO, EVP Eyal Ben-Amram, said: "We are excited to join DCSA and to contribute to the digital transformation. We firmly believe that digital innovation will shape the future of the shipping industry, and our multi-service approach embodies this belief. Standardization is the right way to improve the eco-system of all stakeholders".

A month ago, DCSA was created by four founding members — A.P. Moller – Maersk, Hapag-Lloyd, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and Ocean Network Express (ONE).

Four more shipping giants - CMA CGM, Evergreen Line, Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM), Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation - have joined since then.

The DCSA is a neutral and non-profit association established April 2019 in Amsterdam, and once regulatory approval for the new members has been gained, they will represent 70 percent of the market. With nine of the largest container shipping lines in the world, both from Asia and EMEA, DCSA now represents a substantial part of the industry.

As of July 1, 2019, Henning Schleyerbach will be taking on the role of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DCSA.
