SWM Wins $7.7M Navy Deal

Southwest Marine Inc., San Diego, Calif., is being awarded a $7,667,628 cost-plus-award-fee contract for accomplishment of the post shakedown availability (PSA) for the USS Mustin (DDG 89). This contract is for services and material for total DDG 89 PSA effort, including options for DDG 91 and three other San Diego homeported DDGs yet to be determined. Specific efforts include engineering and management in support of the PSA, labor and material to perform specified PSA work items inclusive of tests and post report sea trials, additional man-hours and material to complete emergent and other work, materials (and associated labor) to support operational propulsion plant examination and final contract trials and correction of deficiencies, non-standard equipment and technical manuals. The contract contains options which, if exercised, would bring the total contract value to $37,708,983. Work will be performed in San Diego, Calif., and is expected to be completed by March 2004. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured and advertised via the Internet, with one offer received. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity (N00024-03-C-2307).
