ATI announces that the Office of Naval Research (ONR) has selected the ATI-led National Naval Engineering Research and Education Consortium (NERC) to conduct a three-year, $547,606 research project to develop advanced computational tools for use in the Navy’s ship design and acquisition programs.
The award is part of the National Naval Responsibility for Naval Engineering program, the Navy’s effort to maintain and strengthen the United States’ expertise in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. The project, Tools for Semi-Planing/Semi-Displacement Ship Design with Applications, was selected from more than 70 proposals and is focused on developing design tools that will apply to the innovative ship concepts envisioned for the next generation of Navy surface ships. More specifically, it will develop tools for designing the medium-size, high-speed ships that are of current interest to the Navy.
