Austal USA has introduced a new member to its sales team: Carl F. Wegener is a graduate of Old Dominion University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Wegener has over 15 years of experience in the marine industry having worked with companies such as Newport News Shipbuilding and United Shipbuilders of America. His sales experience in both international and domestic marine markets will be essential in the ongoing development by the Austal Group of their new generation of specialty cruise vessels; including dinner cruise, cruise yachts, and live-aboard dive vessels. Among other accomplishments throughout his career, Wegener worked as the Director of Business Development for Revere Supply Co., Inc., in New Jersey, a technical sales representative with Weltrade International in Florida (international marketer of US and European manufactured marine products), and an engineering manager with Elliot Inflatable Rafts in Florida.
Wegener comes to Austal USA as the company moves into its next stage of expansion at its state-of-the-art facilities in Mobile. The Austal USA yard is currently busy with the construction of two dinner cruise vessels, one a 111ft catamaran to be delivered late this year to Island Queen Cruises in Miami, and the other a 140ft. monohull to be delivered next April to Cloud Nine in New York. Austal USA has also recently signed a contract with well-established New York operator, Circle Line-Statue of Liberty Ferry, Inc. (Circle Line) for a 143ft. Passenger Catamaran which will be the first aluminum high speed vessel for this operator and the third contract Austal USA has secured for the New York area in the last 6 months.
