The Dutch shipowner Wagenborg Shipping ordered two Wärtsilä 46F engines in April for a new feeder containership being built by IHC Holland Dredger BV at the Kinderdijk shipyard in the Netherlands. On its completion in mid-2006, the vessel will operate in the northern European waters.
In addition to the two common-rail main engines Wärtsilä will also supply the propeller for the vessel.
Introduced in autumn 2004, the Wärtsilä 46F is the latest medium-speed marine engine developed by Wärtsilä. Its main components and systems represent the best-in-class technology, offering high efficiency and record-low emissions regardless of the fuel quality.
