Six New S&R Vessels for Vietnam

Damen delivered the last Search and Rescue Vessel, out of a series of six vessel to Vinamarine (Vietnam National Maritime Bureau). The vessel, named SAR 413, was delivered to Vinamarine in presence of the Vice Minister of Transportation, the Chairman of Vinamarine and the Ambassador of The Netherlands as well as representatives of Vinamarine, Damen and local industries. Delivery took place in the port of Haiphong and the vessel will based in Vietnam’s southern port of Vung Tau to be deployed in Vietnam’s southern coastal areas.

The SAR 413 is a member of the Damen Stan Patrol Series and measures 137.8 x 23 ft. (42 x 7 m).

Apart from her modern design and appearance the vessel is provided with all modern (satellite) communication and navigational aids, has towing capabilities, is provided with a sick-bay including medical facilities, survivor room, fire-fighting capabilities, etc.

The vessel’s purpose are search and rescue activities in the southern coastal areas of Vietnam and the preceding deliveries have proven to be very successful in the rescue of sailors, fishing vessels and the like.

The SAR 413 is the last vessel that completes the construction period which took in total 34 months. Each vessel was delivered according to schedule.

The building of the vessels took place at the local shipyard of Song Cam in the city of Haiphong and was based on the successful Damen Technical Cooperation formula by shipping components from The Netherlands and use local labour force for construction. The combination of local construction and Damen know-how, which resulted in successful deliveries, is an excellent basis for future new projects.
