The PPG protective and marine coatings business is introducing and highlight the new PHENGUARD Subsea coating system.
The new product combination of PHENGUARD Subsea 610 coating and PHENGUARD Subsea 780 coating is an ideal two-coat subsea system with high-temperature resistance up to 180 C (356 F) for surfaces with or without insulation.
“The subsea market is one of the most innovative sectors within the offshore industry, with state-of-the art technologies used for subsea projects worldwide," said Marcel de Haan, PPG global product specialist for subsea coatings.
He added: "One of the main concerns at elevated temperatures is the difference in temperature between internal (e.g., hot oil) and external (e.g., cold seawater) environments."
At elevated temperatures, he said, there is a possibility of having a temperature gradient over the coating, which can make coating systems behave differently than in standard conditions.
“Therefore, high-technology products are needed that can deal with the temperature gradient combined with cathodic protection," he added. "Our coatings experts have utilized the high-performance PHENGUARD product technology to provide a reliable and effective solution to the subsea market in the form of PHENGUARD Subsea 610 and 780.”
Jake Ojeda, PPG global offshore segment manager, will join de Haan at OTC 2016, where PPG will exhibit in Booth 3509.
