JLG and Penn State Form JLG University

JLG Industries, Inc. has formed a corporate university called JLG University. Additionally, an alliance with Penn State University has been created to help accomplish the University's goals. The new University represents the company's proactive approach to providing the skills needed to maintain leadership in world markets. While many aerial work platform companies provide short-term proprietary courses, JLG University is the industry's first training alliance between a major university and a corporation. The curriculum at the new JLG University will include workshops, seminars, credit and non-credit courses, certificate programs and both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Short courses dealing with such topics as "Train the Trainer" safety programs and mobile equipment maintenance programs based on JLG equipment will continue to be offered. The University has been opened at a newly acquired facility in McConnellsburg, Pa., near JLG's corporate headquarters. Future plans call for offering programs throughout the world by using both electronic media and on-site instruction. Enrollment will not be limited to JLG employees. Customers, suppliers and members on the community will be offered the opportunity to take relevant courses. The University will be organized into five colleges designed to meet the training and educational needs of JLG's team members, customers and suppliers. The five will be Professional Development, Leadership Development, Customer Support, Supply Chain Management and Skilled Trades. Penn State will provide an on-site project coordinator/instructional designer to assist in the activities of JLG University. This will include the selection of instructors, who will be a combination of Penn State faculty members, JLG team member experts, faculty from other universities and training vendors.
